Solid haircare? I'm not so sure about that...
Making the switch to solid shampoo and conditioner can be difficult for many. If you're reading this article, you're not entirely convinced yet. We'd love to try and change your mind!
Such hesitant thoughts or concerns might be holding you back from making the switch:
How do I know if solid shampoo and conditioner bars will work for my hair?
I've tried solid shampoo before, and it just left my hair dry, unruly, and with strange residue... Will all solid shampoos make my hair feel this way? Sustainable alternatives are usually more expensive... How can I be sure these products are worth the investment?
Do you feel the same way? Are such thoughts preventing you from switching to plastic-free hair care? Please read on! We have answers.
Does solid hair care work for my hair?
If your hair tolerates shampoo and conditioner from bottles, it will love Green Room's solid hair care products. The advantage of Green Room's shampoo & conditioner bars is that their formula is extremely gentle on sensitive scalps and contains many high-performance ingredients not found in average shampoos. And as for solid conditioners: every hair type will benefit from using them... how, depends on the individual and the length and thickness of your locks.
I've had bad experiences with solid shampoo. Will I be disappointed again?
Most likely, a soap-based shampoo bar, meaning a bar of soap simply marketed as shampoo, is to blame for that undesirable result. The chemistry of traditional bar soap differs significantly from that of a solid shampoo. And soap should never be used to wash hair! There are several reasons for this: the pH level is wrong, the surfactants are highly drying, emollients are missing, and soap can be difficult to rinse off in hard water, which can leave residue in the hair. If this was your first experience with solid shampoo, we're really sorry! Green Room promises that this will not be the case with their solid shampoo suds!! You'll notice the difference after the very first wash. (I personally haven't used anything else for over a year and was thrilled from the first use!)
Solid shampoo and conditioner are usually more expensive... is the investment worth it?
Well, in our opinion, investing in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative is always 100% worth it! At 700kg per person, Switzerland produces far too much waste (and thus we are among the negative leaders in all of Europe!; Source: greenpeace.ch). So, every opportunity, even in everyday life, to avoid plastic packaging and take another small but important step towards zero waste is definitely worthwhile - we personally believe!
You should ask yourself the following: Are these alternatives accessible to me, can I afford them, or can I save costs elsewhere to afford them?
If you can answer these questions with a yes, here are three more thoughts:
With Green Room's bars, you can reduce your hair care routine to just these two products (this is also confirmed by Dani, the Green Room founder herself, with very long, quite thick, and slightly damaged hair). You no longer need to wash your hair daily, you don't need leave-in conditioners, hair masks, serums, and oils, or travel sizes. So you buy less and thus live more mindfully and sustainably!
Since the shampoo and conditioner bars are solid and super concentrated, you're not paying primarily for water (as with liquid alternatives). This means: Your bars last longer and are lighter for transport, which ultimately also leads to a reduction in CO2 emissions. When used correctly, Green Room's solid shampoo and conditioner each equate to three 240ml bottles of the liquid alternative. So not that expensive at all, and certainly not for salon-quality hair care.
By purchasing Green Room's solid hair care, you not only make your hair and the environment happy, but you also support a small, eco-friendly, and women-led business.
Well, do you still need to think about it? Or are you ready to try Green Room hair care?
